It has been declared extinct since 2007, Aldabra snails were found again in the in the wild atoll Aldabra last week, a World Heritage site in
Malabar Island, the Seychelles, Madagascar, located in the Indian Ocean region. "I was surprised. No one member of the expedition never seen that before, "said Shane Brice, a member of the expedition team from the Seychelles Islands Foundation, as quoted by the BBC, Tuesday, September 9, 2014.
Aldabra snail is regarded as one of the first species extinction caused by global warming. This condition causes the precipitation in the region declined, threatening the habitat of the snail and cause extinction.
Other team members, Catherine Onezia, said that the rediscovery of the snail that declared extinct seven years ago it was demonstrated that the Aldabra atoll still holds many secrets. Previous snail types that are often found on the island of Malabar, but the population declined dramatically between 1970 and 1990.
